How to get Here

Nantes has an international airport, and can also be reached by TGV high-speed train from Paris in about 2 hours.  There is also a Eurolines bus service.

1. Air Travel

Nantes airport is served by many standard and low-cost airlines, including Vueling, Transavia, Ryanair, FlyBe, EasyJet. Otherwise flights go via Paris.  There is also a direct train from Paris airport (“aeroport charles de gaulle”) to Nantes that takes about 3 hours.

From Nantes airport take the bus to “Commerce” (last stop, about 20 minutes) from outside arrivals, which costs €7.50 (ticket is valid for 1 hour so no need for a new ticket to then take the Tram).

2. Train

The TGV train is 2h15 from Nantes to Paris “Montparnasse” station, there are trains roughly every 30-60 minutes.  There is also a direct train from Paris airport (“aeroport charles de gaulle”) to Nantes that takes about 3 hours. It is cheaper to reserve in advance but you can buy at the station.  Before entering the train you must stamp your ticket in the yellow machines on the platforms.

On arriving at Nantes, leave the station via the North exit, and catch the Tram line 1, direction “Francois Mitterand”, and get out at Commerce for the Tram Line 2.

3. Local transport

Nantes has a good tram and bus network, a single ticket is valid across the whole network for 1 hour (buy from the machines on the platforms, not possible on the trams themselves).  The centre of Nantes is Tram stop “Commerce”, also the end point for the airport bus.

Conference Location: The IMN

The conference will be held at the “Institut des Materiaux Jean Rouxel” on the science campus of the University of Nantes.  It can be reached via Tram line 2 (red) going north, direction “Orvault Grand Val”, get off at “Michelet Sciences”.  Next to the tram stop are large metal gates, walk through these and directly in front is a concrete and dark glass building, this is the IMN.
